Caffè Stern, Alajmo
Parigi

2 March 2015

From historic engravers to Italian-style coffeehouse. Stern has been renovated on the initiative of Raffaele and Massimiliano Alajmo (already famous for their three-star restaurant Le Calandre at Rubano and for the Quadri restaurant in Venice) and the young Parisian entrepreneur David Lanher. The idea came out of an encounter between the Alajmo brothers and Gianni Frasi, coffee roaster at the Laboratorio Torrefazione Giamaica Caffè in Verona. Located in the 2nd arrondissement, to be exact at no. 47, Passage des Panoramas, Stern is coming back to life after two years of work which has also seen the contribution of the architect Dominique Averland, who has overseen the meticulous restoration, and Philippe Starck, who was entrusted with the task of furnishing and lighting the coffeehouse. The result is a place in which the heritage of the past has been preserved and embellished with contemporary details. The natural Arabica coffee beans, selected by Frasi, are freshly ground and are the café’s principal attraction, although it also offers the possibility of tasting the delights of Italian cuisine as revisited by Massimiliano Alajmo.
