Marco Zanta
Geografie

25 November 2013

In the book Urban Europe (2008) Marco Zanta presented pictures taken over four years of traveling around various countries of the Old World, comparing contemporary architecture and the forms of the preexisting urban fabric in search of a common identity. Geografie (“Geographies”) is an exhibition connecting that work with the research Zanta has carried out subsequently, some of it outside the borders of Europe. The result is not just an exploration of the way architecture is layered in the city but also an examination of the very idea that lies behind the conception of the buildings, the variables and the constants that come together in the more contemporary interventions, creating images that are poised between a photographic survey of the places and a re-creation of the original ideas of the architects who conceived them.
