You could fall head over heels in love with Hugh and chicken in profile. Grease Party is a plunge into the Serendipity of the late seventies. In-decision is us, whenever we find ourselves in the wrong place for the wrong reason, at the wrong time. If there were a soundtrack it could only be the Clash’s London Calling. A hundred per cent British, acid colors, faraway looks, finalist in the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery, David Stewart is in Rome with nine new works. With an acute, highly georeferential gaze, Stewart takes as his field of inquiry the physiognomic diary of Cool Britannia. In one image: the beak-nosed profile of a (country) gentleman in a turtleneck jumper versus the bold comb of a rooster proudly flaunting red spikes in a decidedly punk style. Super!
