Negli ultimi dieci anni, le piccole distillerie artigianali hanno conosciuto una nuova vita. Un po’ grazie alla riscoperta di tecniche per la produzione di whisky che erano state abbandonate. Un po’ grazie alla importanza crescente che hanno assunto le nicchie, superando per certi aspetti la produzione di massa. Mackmyra Svensk Whisky è una distilleria svedese, si trova a Gävle (un’ora e mezzo a nord di Stoccolma) ed è nata nel 1999 da un’idea di otto amici, tutti provenienti dal Royal Institute of Technology di Stoccolma. Ha funzionato talmente bene che nel 2011 i soci hanno deciso di costruire un nuovo edificio, seconda tappa di quello che, nelle loro intenzioni, dovrebbe diventare un “villaggio del whisky”. La nuova costruzione, progettata dallo studio TEA, vuole anche affascinare i visitatori: un lato dell’edificio, in vetro, mostra gli splendidi interni della struttura, con macchinari e silos di metallo squillante. Over the last ten years, small craft-based distilleries have experienced a new lease of life. Thanks in part to the revival of techniques for the production of whisky that had been abandoned. And in part to the growing importance assumed by niche producers, outstripping mass production in some aspects. Mackmyra Svensk Whisky is a Swedish distillery located at Gävle (an hour and a half’s drive north of Stockholm) and founded in 1999 by eight friends, all of them students at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. It worked so well that in 2011 the partners decided to construct a new building, the second stage in the creation of what they hope will become a “whisky village.” The new construction, designed by the TEA studio, is intended to fascinate visitors as well: one side of the building has a glass façade, revealing the splendid interiors of the structure, filled with machinery and containers of gleaming metal.
