Olympic Studios

4 March 2014

Built as a playhouse at the beginning of the 20th century, converted into a motion picture theater, turned back into a playhouse and then a movie theater again, it became one of the most famous recording studios in the world in the sixties, used for albums by the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, David Bowie, Prince and Madonna, among others. The Olympic Studios, main rival of the Abbey Road Studios, have recently been resurrected, after four years of oblivion, and once again turned into a movie theater, multiplex this time and with an attached restaurant. The building has been restored by Simone McEwan, previously responsible for the interior design of the Soho House Group and concept director for Selfridges, who has used vintage materials and colors for the interiors, recalling the glorious history of the theater. Have a good night out!

Roberta Mutti

She sits astride Italy, Belgium and Southeast Asia, and sometimes falls off. When asked what she does, she replies: I do things, see people. She has been writing about furniture for twenty years and is still not tired of it, in spite of everything. She has no free time, and is not even interested in it. For her it’s enough not to have to go to the same office everyday. She mixes with unlikely people, and contributes to Klat for this very reason.
