Voyageur du Temps
Los Altos, California

4 May 2015

The bakery, café and pastry shop Voyageur du Temps has risen from the ashes of an old railroad station in Los Altos, Santa Clara County, California. A more than successful transformation that has been achieved thanks to the American entrepreneur Rie Rubin, with the aid of Character, a creative agency based in San Francisco. Voyageur du Temps, which means time traveler in French, preserves the values of the ancient art of bread making while renewing its spirit, largely through the operation of branding carried out by Character, which has been given responsibility for the café’s design and visual identity. Website, packaging, indoor and outdoor signage, menu, merchandise and staff uniforms are the fruit of research whose result blends the classical and the contemporary, the rustic and the refined, perfectly reflecting the nature of the place. An interesting detail of the creative process is the logo, inspired by the Roman numeral five on the clock of a French train station: a solution that evokes both the name of the café and its origin. At Voyager du Temps you can buy freshly baked bread and crepes with fresh fruit, sip a cup of good coffee with an artisan pastry and indulge in delicacies of every kind.
