UP3, Jawbone

What lurks behind a wristband with a glamorous look? A sophisticated digital system equipped with sensors that are able to analyze biometric parameters and thus the activity and physical performance of its wearer. This is the solution the designer Yves Béhar, founder of the Fuseproject studio, has come up with for Jawbone. UP3 can be used to monitor heart rate and sleep patterns, to classify and compare periodic exercise and training sessions and, by connecting to the UP App, to access a virtual Smart Coach that will customize the wearer’s activity on the basis of his or her goals. The aim of the wristband is to give users a greater awareness of the state of their health and encourage them to take better care of themselves. UP3 can also be fitted with accessories such as interchangeable decorative elements to make it look like a piece of jewelry, or a watch. The battery lasts up to seven days and the device, made of anodized aluminum, is water resistant to a depth of 10 meters. Designed to be worn 24/7, it will go on sale this winter.
