Butterfly, Patricia Urquiola

8 April 2015

The name comes from the shape formed by the outer corner of the junction between arm and back. Butterfly is the new modular seating system for outdoor use produced by B&B Italia, a happy synthesis of precision and informality in design. The Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola has developed a modular structure based on an ottoman. This can be fitted with a back and/or arm to make four elements that can easily be combined to create innumerable configurations: linear couches, corner pieces and single seats. Completely upholstered, the elements are made of polyurethane and covered with polyester that has been treated to make it water repellent and ensure better insulation. The fabrics used for the covering are innovative and have a marked texture, specially designed for outdoors. Butterfly is one of the Brianza-based company’s new products for 2015, and will be on display from April 14 to 19 at its showroom at Via Durini 14 in Milan.
