Double Layer, Nodus
Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba

We’ve been telling ourselves for years, decades even, that we should be more environmentally friendly in what we make, and above all remake, and find an intelligent way of intervening in what already exists, improving it or turning it into something else. Most of the time the results of this ambitious undertaking turn out to be Frankenstein’s monsters: products in which the different contributions have not been melded, just juxtaposed. When the graft does take, though, it is an epiphany of the senses. This is true of Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba Double Layer rugs, presented in happy company in the new Nodus collection thanks to the visionary generosity of the entrepreneur Andrea Galimberti. A sort of analog open source through which a series of Persian rugs has encountered and literally been overlaid with a new, contemporary and apparently incompatible decoration. The meeting is an exchange of loving senses between patterns wholly unlike one another, but which seem born to go together.
