“I had the sensation that everything was vanishing too fast: the old rolls of film, the red light of the darkroom, the quarters of my city, Barcelona. The pinhole camera allowed me to slow things down. I used double exposure, asked people to keep still, and then took pictures of the places in which they had lived and that were disappearing. I could not check the framing nor the way in which the images overlapped, just guess at them. And the box did its part, surprising me.”
