Vapeur, Moustache
Inga Sempé

It looks like a chef’s hat, a light and airy cloud. Vapeur (2009) is a range of lamps that makes use of the self-supporting properties of pleated nonwoven fabric. There are three versions: two for the table and one for hanging. Ample and soft forms, conveying a sense of lightness that is at once physical and visual, fill the setting with a diffuse light, mellow in its effect. Inga Sempé, its creator, is a painstaking designer who knows how to exploit the qualities of materials to obtain the best performance. The secret of making what in reality requires great effort and strict discipline appear easy is a mix of knowhow and intuition, delicacy and determination: a bit like a great star performing on stage. In 2013, the line produced by Moustache was enriched with new colored versions, with bolder shades for the base and paler ones for the pleated fabric.
