Sea-Dweller 4000

For many it is a real cult: the professional diver’s watch par excellence, a symbol of the human mastery of the depths. First developed in 1967, and modified several times since then, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller returns this year looking much the same as in the past, but in reality profoundly updated on the inside. In fact the new version contains all the innovations developed by the brand and has all of its most characteristic technical features. Commencing with 904L steel, a stainless steel alloy with a high content of chrome and nickel, extremely hard and difficult to work but highly resistant to corrosion. The easily legible dial, with Chromalight markers and hands of long-lasting luminescence. The unidirectional rotatable bezel with a Cerachrom insert of ceramic and PVD platinum details. The winding crown with the Triplock triple waterproofing system. And finally the Oyster bracelet that can be adapted to every wrist, even when worn over a wetsuit, thanks to the Glidelock extension system (20 mm in increments of 2 mm) and Fliplock extension link (another 26 mm), with Oysterlock safety clasp. Without forgetting the self-winding movement, obviously made by Rolex itself, whose accuracy is attested by the official chronometer certificate issued by the COSC. The only things that haven’t changed are the water resistance up to 122 atmospheres and the helium escape valve that made it famous. On sale from July.
