Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master
Rolex

29 June 2015

The Rolex Yacht-Master, a classic of the Genevan manufacturer since 1992, is back. With a case made of Everose gold (an exclusive alloy produced in house) and in two sizes: one with a diameter of 40 mm and the other, for the first time, of 37 mm, better suited to more slender wrists, like those of women. But the real innovation lies in the strap (unprecedented, patented): apparently made of “normal” rubber, it is in reality an elastomer, a polymer of unspecified composition but resistant to ultraviolet rays, wear and corrosion. In addition, the strap has a metal core, i.e. a thin layer of nickel and titanium that ensures the maximum of flexibility and greater strength (it is practically impossible to cut), and has special cushions on the inner surface that enhance its comfort. Both versions are fitted with a unidirectional rotatable bezel with a top ring of matt black Cerachrom (the manufacturer’s special ceramic material), on which are set numerals and gradations in relief. But the movements are different: the larger model is a 3135 caliber, while the smaller one is a 2236 caliber. Both of them, obviously, made by Rolex and both self-winding, they are distinguished by the hairspring: blue Parachrom in the former, Syloxi in the latter, both paramagnetic and produced in house, but the latter is made of silicon. NB: each of them has passed the tests of the COSC and obtained the official certificate of a chronometer.
