Calibre Diver
Cartier

1 August 2014

It conforms to the strict international standards that define the characteristics of dive watches, but interprets them in an original way. Calibre Diver, Cartier’s first professional watch for underwater use, is in fact constructed using innovative technical solutions. Commencing with the unidirectional turning bezel: darkened with a coating of ADLC, it converges toward the inside and overlaps the knurled ring, which remains in a more protected position but is equally easy to grip with the gloves of the wetsuit (and more respectful of the hems of your pockets, when you’re back on dry land). Then there is the graphic design, which is surprising in the dark: in addition to the details of the dial, the Super-LumiNova coating even “illuminates” the second counter. Waterproof to a pressure of 30 atmospheres, with a 42-mm-diameter steel or pink gold case and in-house automatic movement, the watch is distinctive from the aesthetic viewpoint too: from the sword-shaped hands to the Roman numerals, from the oversized 12 to the secret signature at 10 and the crown with a blue cabochon. Cartier style, unequivocally.
