Three hundred and fifteen wooden slats outline the perimeter of this house, at Uster in Switzerland, designed by the Gramazio & Kohler studio. Slats that have been milled one by one to follow a curve that lets sunlight in where it’s needed and screens it out where it’s not. Hung from a pitched roof, also made of wood, the external structure provides filtered natural lighting and allows the occupants to enjoy a splendid view of the lake. The inside walls are in raw concrete, with strip windows that contrast geometrically with the external structure. Congratulations. (via ArchDaily)
