Il Jeu de Paume rende omaggio all’opera di Taryn Simon con una mostra che presenta otto suoi lavori differenti, realizzati tra il 2000 e oggi. L’artista americana declina in varie forme (fotografia, testi, video) il problema dell’ambiguità delle immagini e riflette sul tema dell’invisibilità fotografica, indagando sugli spazi attorno a noi nascosti da barriere invalicabili. Come in An American Index of the Hidden and Unfamiliar, dove documenta una serie di siti preclusi alla popolazione civile, tra istituzioni governative, scientifiche e militari. O come in The Innocents, una serie di ritratti a individui condannati ingiustamente, fotografati in luoghi chiave. Impenetrabilità, assenza, inganno: gli scatti di Simon mettono l’osservatore di fronte alla fragilità della documentazione, illuminando ciò che è nascosto e ribadendone l’inaccessibilità.
