Wally 110 Barong D
Every Sailor’s Dream

27 March 2017

Over thirty-three meters of dream boat. The Wally 110 Barong D, designed by Germán Frers, is the third superyacht built for a client loyal to the famous Monegasque yard, synonymous with state-of-the-art aesthetics and technology. Luca Bassani, founder and president of Wally Yachts, which has designed the boat’s interiors (and its exterior, with Frers) has said of this splendid performance cruiser with classical and elegant lines: “We have succeeded in delivering a full-optional boat of 33.51 meters that meets the needs of the owners, who spend several months of the year on board with their family. One of the most surprising achievements concerns the vessel’s displacement, which is only 65 tons, two less than was predicted by the initial plans and about 35% less than other yachts in this size range.” The Barong D is made of prepreg carbon fiber. Many of the fittings on deck are made of titanium and the lines are extremely clean: an almost flush deck, with a small and not very obtrusive deckhouse. Even at the bow essentiality rules the roost, and so the anchor is kept out of sight. Wally has changed the way people go sailing and this latest masterpiece is further confirmation: the “easy sailing” that is now so fashionable even among mass-produced cruising boats took its cue from the yachts launched by Wally back in the nineties. Bassani was the first to grasp the importance of simplifying the handling of sailboats, even those of large size, coming up with truly innovative solutions. The result: today Wally is the world’s most famous brand at the high end of the yachting market, and the 110-foot Barong D is every sailor’s dream.
