Engineers are well aware of the problem: joining two points with a suspended element, without it sagging, can be an extremely difficult task. Its complexity, moreover, increases with the distance between the points. The 25 table functions exactly like the most daring of road or rail bridges. In designing it Fattorini+Rizzini+Partners have met one of the hardest of challenges: maintaining the same minimal thickness of 25 mm, from which it takes its name, over a length that can reach 3.50 meters. A “span” between the legs of the table that is achieved by means of a sophisticated sandwich of high-performance materials, including aluminum and carbon fiber. The layering of the materials and the synergy between them produce the magical effect of this table top that looks like a thin sheet suspended between equally slender and linear supports. Manufactured by Desalto and recently awarded the Compasso d’Oro, 25 shows how the most advanced technology can be handled with elegance, without resorting to the muscular kind of exhibitionism to which the hi-tech style is sometimes prone.

Torn between the history of art and the history of architecture, she came across design at the end of the last century and has not let go of it since. She loves to deal with everything that entails the use of ingredients, their choice, mixing and transformation: from writing to cooking, from knitting to design, from perfumes to colors.
