Maharam Shell Chair Project

12 September 2013

Certainly, if everyone were to revive classics there’d be no room for anything new, but with a catalogue like this, it’s something really worth doing. Carl Hansen & Son, a Danish company that currently bases 99% of its production on designs from Northern Europe, remains faithful to its artisan origins: few products, meticulous care taken over details, great craftsmanship. As a fitting celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Shell Chair, designed in 1963 by Hans J. Wegner, it is bringing out a special edition upholstered with Maharam fabrics, another milestone in the history of contemporary design. The pieces of the Maharam Shell Chair Project, launched in New York at the 2013 ICFF, are now on sale.

She has been writing about furniture for twenty years and is still not tired of it, in spite of everything. She has no free time, and is not even interested in it. For her it’s enough not to have to go to the same office everyday. She mixes with unlikely people, and contributes to Klat for this very reason.
