Waiheke Island is a small island of the coast of New Zealand’s North Island. Here, on Matiatia Bay, the Fearon Hay Architects studio has designed a house for a family. With a large area—375 square meters—available, the functions have been spread out over a series of small separate buildings laid out around a common space, open to the sky, which also houses a swimming pool. The four structures containing the day, night, cooking and work zones are built of concrete, with a great deal of glass and aluminum panels for screening. Given its geographical location, the structure is self-sufficient in energy terms, with solar panels and a well to collect rainwater. The furniture is a concentrate of essentiality and high-end Italian design. Lucky people, what else can you say? (via Yatzer)
